Head Coach
Tony Angelov
Tony started training as a teenager at City Lee Gar over 25 years ago and has since had involvement with almost every aspect of Muay Thai in New Zealand. A 2x NZ Champion at both Super-Cruiserweight and Heavyweight, Tony has fought at the highest level internationally while also judging and refereeing at local events on a regular basis. In 2014 he was given the honour of running the gym by Sifu Phillip Lam. It is a responsibility not taken lightly and he continues to ensure the Lee Gar Legacy lives on strong.

Massoud Abdolmaleki
Masoud is a multiple-time international gold medalist, and most recently a gold medal at the 2023 World Combat Games.
With years of elite international experience and high-level competition behind him (300+ fights), we’re excited for our members to learn from someone with such strong knowledge and passion for the sport.

Senior Coach + One on one Trainer
Alex Porter
Alex Porter has trained some of New Zealand’s fittest athletes. A former Muay Thai and MMA fighter turned CrossFit Games competitor, Alex has coached athletes to multiple national, regional and world championships. He is considered one of the top strength and conditioning coaches in New Zealand. Alex has an extraordinary wealth of knowledge within his field and is a great mentor for our City Lee Gar members.

Boxing Coach
TERRANCE REID-BATCHELOR
Terrance has dedicated his lifetime to the sport of Boxing. After a successful amateur career and time spent training in Las Vegas, injuries turned him towards coaching at the age of 25.
His Mayhem Boxing team have gone on to have major national and international success, with notable fighters such as Women's WBO World Lightheavyweight Boxing Geovana Peres, Navosa Ioata and Troy Garton along with numerous other National and Golden Gloves Boxing champions. In 2019, Terrence was awarded the NZ Boxing coach of the year, and Mayhem boxing team as the NZ Boxing team of the year.

Cam Adkin
Cam is the current WBC NZ Amature Light Heavyweight Champion, he brings a lot of technical skill and knowledge to the team and he
has a true passion for the sport that he continues to share with our City Lee Gar Community.

Muay Thai Coach - Kids and Teens
Devon Goodhew
Combining extensive martial arts experience with professional fitness qualifications, Devon has a natural ability to connect with the next generation of martial artists. He sets a high standard in every aspect of training, from regular classes through to gradings, while creating a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Devon is passionate about helping young students develop their skills, confidence, and discipline, and he loves making every class fun, enjoyable, and rewarding for our kids and youth members.
